JOHANNESBURG, 28 July, 2016 – Econet Media’s Kwesé Sports will bring African basketball fans live coverage of the USA Men’s National Team exhibition game versus Nigeria game taking place on 2 August 2016 as part of the USA Basketball Showcase. Kwesé has acquired exclusive rights to stream the game live across Africa. The live action will be streamed on the official Kwesé Sports website and will be accessible across the continent.
Fans will also have the opportunity to experience the live game on the Kwesé Sports Facebook page in the continent’s first ever live streaming of a sports event through Facebook Live.
This is the latest development following Econet and the NBA in April announcing a multiyear partnership to provide the most expansive NBA coverage ever across sub-Saharan Africa beginning within the 2016-17 NBA season.
The game tipoff is at 19:00 CT on August 1 in Houston, Texas. This means that to catch the action live, fans on the African continent need to tune in to the Kwesé Sports platforms at 02:00 am CAT on August 2. Through live streaming, the continent’s fans will be able to root for the team as they catch each pass, shot and rebound, with by-the-second live commentary, wherever they are.

JOHANNESBURG, 25 July 2016 – Econet Media and the National Football League (NFL) have reached an agreement that will see Econet Media’s Kwesé Sports become the exclusive linear TV broadcaster of NFL content in a number of markets in sub-Saharan Africa as part of a 5 year deal. The deal – brokered by ESPN Media Distribution – includes live games and will kick-off at the beginning of the 2016- 2017 season.
The agreement is part of a multi-year deal that includes, at a minimum, five live games per week during the regular season including Thursday Night Football, three games each Sunday, Monday Night Football, as well as every game of the NFL playoffs and the annual Super Bowl. As part of the agreement, Econet Media will be making select games available free-to-air.
Econet Media will also be the broadcast flagship for ESPN NFL studio content– such as NFL Live and Sunday NFL Countdown – and archive programming from NFL Films on Kwesé Sports, giving African fans comprehensive coverage throughout each season.
As part of the deal, Econet Media will also be involved in actively promoting and growing the sport in Sub-Saharan Africa, as the NFL looks to develop its fan base across the continent.
The agreement will give Econet Media broadcast rights in Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Swaziland, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Tanzania (including Zanzibar), Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

LONDON, UK (July 18 2016) - Fans of the FIA Formula E Championship will have live streaming access to all the track action from every season three race after an agreement was reached with Econet Media to stream content via the Kwese Sports website.
Econet Media has acquired the rights to stream all sessions including practice, qualifying and every race of the all-electric racing series, which sparks back into life with the HKT Hong Kong ePrix on October 9. In addition, the agreement gives Kwese Sports exclusive rights, including TV, for the 2017/18 season. Through the Kwese Sports live streaming service, viewers across sub-Saharan Africa will be able to access live Formula E racing action for the first time.

Five year deal signed with Econet Media, starts September 2016
JOHANNESBURG, June 2016 – Get ready for sensational rugby action from England’s top teams! In yet another achievement for Econet Media, the company today confirmed that it has acquired the exclusive English language rights to all LIVE Aviva Premiership Rugby matches for Sub-Saharan Africa (excluding South Africa) for its Kwesé Sports branded platforms. The deal also gives Kwesé Sports the non-exclusive rights to the English-language weekly highlights programmes across the same region as well.
In total, Econet Media’s Kwesé Sports plans to broadcast more than 100 matches per season, including on its satellite and internet based services as these are launched.
